About the client:
The company is a growing US-based technology consulting firm that helps organizations manage and optimize their telecom and technology expenses. The accounting team supports US operations in a collaborative, corporate environment with plenty of exposure to cross-functional teams and international stakeholders.
About the role: The Staff Accountant plays a key role in supporting the organization's financial operations by ensuring accurate reporting, maintaining strong internal controls, and contributing to process improvements. This position partners closely with the Senior Finance Manager to manage day-to-day accounting functions, provide financial insights, and support strategic decision-making.
Minimum Qualifications - Bachelor's degree required; degree obtained in Accounting/Finance preferred
- 2-5 years' experience in bookkeeping, accounting, finance and related
- Experience using software tools such as ERP, CRM, online payment/banking
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook and Excel)
- Knowledge of inventory management from an accounting perspective
- Expert level desktop computer skills
- Background or knowledge of sales tax requirements and processes
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to properly investigate and problem solve accounting/finance operational functions
- Ability to communicate effectively (written and oral)
- Ability to prioritize workload efficiently
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Essential Position Functions Accounts Payable & Receivable Support - Manage and process Accounts Payable transactions, ensuring accuracy, proper coding, and timely payment
- Support Accounts Receivable efforts, including monitoring outstanding balances and assisting with collections as needed
- Maintain vendor and customer records to ensure data accuracy and compliance
Reconciliation & Financial Accuracy - Perform regular reconciliations, including corporate credit cards and other assigned accounts
- Identify discrepancies, investigate variances, and ensure timely resolution
- Assist in maintaining the integrity of financial data and adherence to internal controls
Reporting & Financial Analysis - Prepare and distribute financial reports and key performance metrics to evaluate the company's financial position
- Support month-end and year-end close processes, including journal entries and account analysis
- Assist in analyzing financial data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities
Compensation & Metrics Support - Evaluate and validate bonus and incentive metrics to ensure accuracy and alignment with company policies
- Partner with leadership to provide supporting data for final approvals
Cross-Functional Support & Customer Service - Serve as a resource to internal teams by answering accounting and financial-related questions
- Translate financial data into clear, actionable insights for non-finance stakeholders
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support operational and financial initiatives
Process Improvement & Projects - Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, increase efficiency, and strengthen controls
- Participate in and lead projects that support organizational growth, scalability, and profitability
- Assist in implementing new systems, tools, or workflows as needed
