Role Summary:
We are seeking a skilled AutoCAD Drafter to join a dynamic Australian engineering and manufacturing team. In this role, you will support an existing drafting team across a range of technical drawing and design tasks from concept and manufacturing drawings through to as-built documentation. This is an ideal opportunity for a detail-oriented drafter with solid AutoCAD 2D and Fusion 360 experience who thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.
 
Working Location: Home-based setup
Work Schedule: 10:00 AM - 7:00 PM (AEST)
 
Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist the engineering team with project assessments, design, drafting, and documentation including concept, manufacturing, installation, and as-built drawings
  • Support management of project data storage systems to ensure only the latest drawing revisions are in use
  • Assist in developing and maintaining accurate Bills of Material (BOM) and factory labour hour estimates
  • Provide drafting support to Sales and Estimating to assist with winning orders and defining cost targets
  • Develop and refine product designs to meet project specifications, ensuring quantities, quality requirements, and tolerances are clearly identified
  • Assist in identifying manufacturing improvements and product design optimisations to reduce cost while maintaining quality
  • Support standard product drawing library management, including revisions and document control
Must-Have:
  • 3-5 years of hands-on drafting experience with proficiency in AutoCAD 2D and Fusion 360
  • Proven ability to produce Manufacturing/Shop Drawings and As-Built Drawings, with a solid understanding of tolerances, quality requirements, and quantities
  • Experience in steel fabrication or light manufacturing environment
  • Average to good English communication skills (written and spoken)
Nice-to-Have:
  • Experience with Installation/Setout Drawings and O&M Manual Drawings
  • Exposure to Bills of Material (BOM) creation and updates
  • Familiarity with manufacturing cost estimation and labour hour calculations
  • Background in the fencing industry
  • Previous experience supporting Sales or Estimating teams with drafting input
