Role Summary:
We are seeking a Structural Engineer with a strong foundation in structural/civil engineering and hands-on capability in parametric design, computational tools, and software development to join a growing structural and civil engineering consultancy. This is a hybrid role sitting at the intersection of structural engineering and technology - helping the team build, implement, and maintain automated workflows that streamline how structural project data moves through the business. The ideal candidate has a genuine structural engineering foundation, is comfortable writing code, and is excited to shape how AI and automation get applied to real engineering projects.
Working Location: Home-based setup (Remote, Vietnam)
Work Schedule: 8AM - 5PM (AEST)
Key Responsibilities:
- Support structural engineers in parametric modelling and computational design using tools such as Rhino/Grasshopper, Tekla Structures, or similar
- Build and maintain custom scripts and internal tools (C#, Python) that help engineers develop structural designs more quickly and consistently
- Structure and manage engineering data (loads, materials, sections, calculations) within parametric workflows to ensure consistency, traceability, and reusability
- Map, refine, and document engineering workflows, identifying opportunities for automation and quality control
- Set up systems so incoming structural project data is captured, transformed, and routed correctly into internal tools and calculation workflows
- Build and maintain API integrations and automation pipelines connecting external project sources with internal structural engineering systems
- Provide day-to-day support to engineers using these workflows, troubleshooting issues and improving reliability
- Assist with early-stage project correspondence and information gathering, helping standardise and partially automate initial structural data capture
- Collaborate with structural engineering, operations, and leadership to translate engineering needs into technical automation solutions
- Contribute to documentation and training materials so engineers can effectively use new tools and workflows
Must-Have: - Degree in Structural Engineering, Civil Engineering (with structural emphasis), or closely related field
- Proficient in C# and Python, with the ability to build and maintain scripts/tools independently
- Working experience with Git version control
- Experience developing and integrating APIs, not just consuming them
- Working familiarity with Rhino/Grasshopper and Tekla Structures
- Strong English communicator, able to translate structural engineering workflows into automated processes
- Able to work autonomously in a fast-paced, small-office environment with strong time management
Nice-to-Have: - Prior experience in building, infrastructure, or AEC environments
- Background structuring and managing engineering data (models, load cases, design parameters, calculations) within design workflows
- Experience building internal tools or scripts specifically to improve the productivity of structural engineering teams
- Hands-on experience with Zapier, Make, n8n, or similar automation platforms
- Experience or strong interest in AI tools and platforms (LLMs, APIs, related frameworks)
