We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Payroll Officer with strong knowledge of  Australian payroll legislation and hands-on experience administering payroll under the Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services (SCHADS) Industry Award. The Payroll Officer will be responsible for ensuring accurate and timely processing of wages, compliance with Fair Work requirements, and providing payroll support to staff and management.


Key Responsibilities
● End-to-end processing of weekly/fortnightly payroll for employees covered under the SCHADS Award.
● Interpret and apply SCHADS Award provisions, including penalty rates, overtime, allowances, and shift loadings.
● Maintain employee records, ensuring accuracy in contracts, timesheets, and leave entitlements.
● Ensure compliance with Fair Work Act, National Employment Standards (NES), and relevant taxation requirements.
● Prepare and lodge superannuation contributions, PAYG withholding, and Single Touch Payroll (STP) reporting.
● Reconcile payroll accounts and prepare reports for finance and management.
● Respond to payroll queries with professionalism and accuracy, providing guidance on award conditions and entitlements.
● Collaborate with HR and rostering teams to ensure seamless integration of payroll and workforce management.
● Assist with audits, compliance checks, and continuous improvement of payroll
processes.

Skills & Qualifications
● Proven experience in Australian payroll processing, preferably within the community services or disability sector.
● Strong working knowledge of the SCHADS Award and ability to interpret complex award conditions.
● Familiarity with Fair Work legislation, NES, and tax compliance requirements.
● Proficiency in payroll systems (e.g., Employment Hero, Micropay, Chris21, MYOB, or similar) and Microsoft Excel.
● Excellent attention to detail, analytical skills, and ability to manage deadlines.
● Strong communication and interpersonal skills to liaise with staff and management.
● Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with integrity.

Desirable Attributes
● Experience in NDIS or community services payroll.
● Knowledge of rostering systems and workforce management tools.
 
Work Location
  • Home-based, 7AM - 4PM PH time
  • Should have strong internet connection (minimum of 20 mbps)
  • Should have own Laptop/PC (minimum of i5 8GB RAM)
