About the ClientWe build and operate mobile networks in places most people will never visit—remote islands in the Pacific, the Indian Ocean, the Arctic, and overseas territories. Our software powers cellular networks that connect communities where traditional telcos won't go. We're looking for a Network Operations Engineer to join our small, tight-knit team in Australia and the US.
The roleWe're looking for a Network Integration Engineer to join our small, tight-knit team to assist us in deploying and managing the software we develop into our customer networks worldwide. You'll be the glue between our customers and our development team—keeping networks running, building/deploying new networks, supporting the IP core (routing/switching), updating and building visibility into our infrastructure, and helping ship improvements.
This is a new role. We've never hired for this position before, so you won't be slotting into someone else's job—you'll be carving out your own. There's plenty to do, and no two days will look the same.
To start: You'll own a select few customer deployments, both deploying new and supporting existing software onto virtualization stacks, troubleshooting and testing. Our customer networks vary in the scope of what we provide; some only have 1 or 2 software based network elements (often delivered as a VM running the required applications) while others we manage end to end including the IP Core/Routing/Switching/Backhauls and other
operational functions such as NMS/Alerting and OSS/BSS. From there, your role grows into bridging the gap between our dev team and our customers—spotting issues, improving tooling, documentation and keeping the networks running smoothly.
Day-to-day, you'll be: - Running Ansible playbooks to deploy upgrades, backups, deployments and patches
- Building and refining Grafana dashboards, alerts, and thresholds to make sure everything is running smoothly
- Monitoring customer and internal infrastructure and proactively catching issues
- Owning incidents / tickets end-to-end: triage, investigation, fix, or escalate
- Feeding insights back to the dev team as they ship new features and working to create even better products
- Documenting both customer networks and internal networks, infrastructure and everything in between. This might be adding to our process guides, creating network diagrams or simple markdown files in our git repos.
This is about 80% internal infrastructure work, 20% customer-facing support.
Our Environment Everything is built in-house by our dev team—no vendor black boxes.
- Configuration/Orchestration: Ansible (Git-controlled)
- Metrics: Prometheus, InfluxDB, Grafana. This is generally for the core software applications
- Monitoring & Alerting: LibreNMS, Greylog, Oxidized. Where we monitor all the core hardware & infrastructure.
- Virtualisation: Proxmox (VMs and LXC containers)
- OS: Linux (Ubuntu), with a custom Apt repo for our software
- Infrastructure: Mikrotik Routing, Cisco Switching, Dell Servers, Peplink Aggregation. You will encounter plenty of VPN (Wireguard/IPSec), BGP, OSPF, MPLS, VPLS and some HA technologies such as VRRP
Skills/Qualifications: - Solid networking fundamentals (roughly CCNA-level knowledge, certification not required). Experience with Mikrotik is highly desirable.
- Experience working in an ISP or telco environment.
- Linux sysadmin skills (comfortable on the command line, installing packages, troubleshooting services).
- Experience with Grafana, Prometheus or LibreNMS (or similar tools like Zabbix or Nagios—the concepts transfer)
- Experience with Ansible (or transferable skills from Salt, Puppet, or Terraform)—running playbooks, basic modifications
- Basic Git skills (saving changes, pushing commits)
- Strong troubleshooting skills with Wireshark and packet captures
- Solid TCP/IP fundamentals—routing, packet loss, protocol behaviour
- Self-directed and able to work autonomously
- Excellent time management skills, communication skills and able to clearly document work.
Nice to have - Experience with 3GPP mobile/cellular networks (highly desired—but we'll train the right person)
- SIP/VoIP experience
- Python or scripting skills
- Mikrotik routing or Cisco switching experience.
We're happy to train you on the mobile network domain if you're strong on the ISP/Linux/monitoring fundamentals.
This role isn't for you if you need tasks handed to you. We're a small team and we don't micromanage - which means you have a lot of freedom in this role and there will be plenty of interesting challenges and work. You're expected to spot problems, find improvements, and make them happen. We want someone who will proactively solve problems and call in the relevant team members when you need an assist.

Work Schedule - Monday to Friday (10AM-7PM; Manila Time) - with flexibility to adjust start and finish times as needed

- Candidates must have a quiet, distraction-free, and dedicated workspace at home.
- Hired staff is required to have a stable and reliable internet connection with at least 20MBPS for both download AND upload speed.
