Job Title: International Remote Conservatorship Paralegal / Forms Specialist

Location: Remote/Homebased– INDIA
Schedule: Mondays - Fridays, Must overlap with US Pacific Time
Employment Type: Full-Time

Position Overview
We are seeking for an exceptionally accurate, organized, and highly trainable international remote legal professional to assist with the preparation of California conservatorship filing packages. The position is a legal-production role focused on converting client intake information into accurate, complete court forms, attachments, and supporting documents for attorney and in-office paralegal review.

The successful candidate will receive training from the firm's conservatorship team, including completed examples, templates, checklists, county-specific instructions, and direct feedback. Prior California conservatorship experience is strongly preferred but is not required for an otherwise strong candidate with relevant paralegal experience, excellent written English, strong reading comprehension, and demonstrated ability to prepare court, government, or other standardized forms with exceptional attention to detail.

Initial Scope of the Position
  • General conservatorship matters.
  • Limited conservatorship matters.
  • Temporary conservatorship matters.
  • Conservatorships of the person, conservatorships of the estate, and combined person-and-estate proceedings.
  • Initial filing packages in the California counties in which the firm regularly practices.
  • County-specific local forms, attachments, filing requirements, and known procedural practices, as directed by the supervising team.
  • Supplemental, corrected, or related initial-filing documents when assigned by the supervising team.
Core Responsibilities:

1. Review Client Intake Materials and Organize the Matter
  • Review the firm's client questionnaire, intake notes, supporting documents, correspondence, and other materials provided for the matter.
  • Identify and organize the factual information needed for the assigned filing package, including information concerning the proposed conservatee, proposed conservator or conservators, relatives and interested persons, residence, assets, income, requested powers, and other relevant facts contained in the intake materials.
  • Compare information across the questionnaire and supporting materials and identify missing, inconsistent, or unclear information.
  • Prepare an organized question or missing-information list rather than making assumptions or filling factual gaps.
  • Maintain an orderly matter checklist so the supervising paralegal can quickly determine what has been received, what remains outstanding, and what requires direction.
2. Prepare Judicial Council Forms and Attachments
  • Complete applicable California Judicial Council forms using firm templates, completed examples, written instructions, and the facts established by the client intake materials.
  • Prepare applicable local court forms required for the county in which the proceeding will be filed.
  • Draft factual attachments and supplemental pages from information contained in the client file, using firm examples and approved language where provided.
  • Prepare related declarations, notices, proposed orders, and supporting documents assigned by the supervising paralegal or attorney.
  • Use the document set designated by the supervising team for the assigned conservatorship type, and promptly flag any situation that does not fit the applicable checklist or example.
3. Apply County-Specific Requirements
  • Follow firm checklists identifying the forms, attachments, filing procedures, and known local practices for each county in which the firm regularly works.
  • Learn and consistently apply differences among counties, including local forms and other county-specific filing requirements provided by the firm.
  • Confirm that the correct local documents have been included before submitting a package for review.
  • Flag unfamiliar circumstances or conflicting instructions rather than assuming that one county follows the practice used in another county.
4. Document Assembly and Quality Control
  • Assemble a complete initial filing package in the firm-required order.
  • Confirm that names, addresses, relationships, dates, case information, requested powers, and other facts are consistent throughout all forms, attachments, and supporting documents.
  • Confirm that required fields are completed, required boxes are addressed, and required attachments and signature pages are included or clearly identified as outstanding.
  • Identify missing signatures, incomplete information, conflicting information, and documents requiring further client, paralegal, or attorney input.
  • Prepare Word and PDF documents in accordance with firm naming, formatting, document-management, and assembly requirements.
  • Deliver the completed package for supervising-paralegal and attorney review together with a concise list of open items and questions.
5. Communication, Training, and Workflow Management
  • Follow detailed training materials, completed examples, checklists, and firm procedures provided by the conservatorship team.
  • Incorporate reviewer corrections into future assignments so that recurring errors decrease as experience with the firm's process increases.
  • Organize questions clearly and raise material issues promptly rather than waiting until a filing deadline.
  • Follow firm naming conventions, folder structure, template rules, version controls, and document-assembly procedures.
  • Track assigned matters, deadlines, and production expectations and communicate promptly if missing information or required decisions prevent completion.
  • Develop increasing independence and production capacity as familiarity with the firm's conservatorship procedures grows.
Required Qualifications
  • At least 1 year of substantive paralegal, legal-assistant, legal-document preparation, or comparable court-document experience. Two or more years is preferred.
  • Experience completing formal court, government, administrative, regulatory, or other standardized forms.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Word and Adobe Acrobat or comparable PDF software, including document formatting, combining files, page organization, and quality control.
  • Excellent written and spoken English, with strong reading comprehension and the ability to convert detailed intake information into accurate written work product.
  • Exceptional attention to names, dates, addresses, relationships, numerical information, checkboxes, attachments, signatures, and consistency between documents.
  • Ability to work accurately from client questionnaires, supporting documents, written instructions, templates, and completed examples.
  • Ability to recognize missing or inconsistent information and request clarification rather than guessing.
  • Strong organization, file-management skills, follow-through, and comfort working in a repetitive, detail-intensive production environment.
  • Ability to receive detailed feedback, learn a highly standardized workflow, and apply prior corrections to later assignments.
Strongly Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior experience as a paralegal or legal assistant for a California law firm.
  • Prior experience completing California Judicial Council forms or other California court forms.
  • Experience with conservatorship, guardianship, probate, estate planning, elder law, family law, immigration, or another form-intensive legal practice.
  • Prior experience preparing complete initial court filing packages from client questionnaires or intake materials.
  • Experience working with local court forms, county-specific filing requirements, or court-specific checklists.
  • Prior experience working remotely for a U.S. law firm or other U.S. professional-services organization.
  • Formal education in law, legal studies, paralegal studies, political science, business, or a related discipline.
Performance Measures
  • Forms and attachments accurately reflect the client intake materials and supporting documents.
  • Names, dates, relationships, addresses, requested powers, and other material information remain consistent throughout each filing package.
  • The correct firm checklist, Judicial Council forms, local forms, and county-specific materials are used for the assigned matter.
  • Drafts contain no avoidable blanks, unsupported assumptions, transposed information, inconsistent facts, or missing required attachments.
  • Open items and questions are identified early in a concise, useful written list.
  • Assignments are completed within agreed deadlines and production expectations with accurate status reporting.
  • Reviewer corrections decline over time as the candidate learns the firm's conservatorship procedures and document standards.
  • Production capacity increases over time without sacrificing accuracy or completeness.
