Job Summary:
The Estimator is responsible for accurately determining the costs associated with construction projects or services. This includes analysing drawings, specifications, and other documentation to prepare time, cost, materials, and labour estimates. The role involves coordinating with project managers, suppliers, and subcontractors to gather pricing and ensure that estimates align with project objectives and budget constraints.
 
Key Responsibilities:
  • Cost Estimation : Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for materials, labor, and equipment based on project specifications.
  • Bid Preparation : Create and submit bids in response to RFPs (Requests for Proposals) or tender documents, ensuring all relevant data is included.
  • Quantity Takeoffs : Analyse architectural and engineering drawings to determine material quantities and cost implications.
  • Vendor & Subcontractor Management : Obtain quotes from suppliers and subcontractors, ensuring competitive and fair pricing.
  • Risk Assessment : Identify project risks, provide value engineering options, and develop contingency plans.
  • Project Analysis : Review and analyse project specifications, drawings, and construction documents to ensure a full understanding of scope and deliverables.
  • Budgeting : Assist project teams in developing accurate budgets, keeping in line with cost targets.
  • Documentation : Maintain accurate records of estimated costs, revisions, and actual costs for reference and continuous improvement.
  • Collaboration : Work closely with designers, project managers and engineers, and ensure estimates reflect the project requirements and constraints.
  • Market Research : Stay updated on material pricing trends, labour rates, and other economic factors affecting project costs.
  • Cost Monitoring : Assist in monitoring project progress to compare actual costs with estimated costs.
Key Skills & Competencies:
  • Analytical Skills : Ability to interpret drawings, technical documents, and contracts.
  • Attention to Detail : Ensure all factors are considered when preparing estimates, minimising errors.
  • Mathematical Aptitude : Strong numerical and statistical skills for cost calculations.
  • Communication : Ability to present estimates and cost breakdowns clearly to clients and internal teams.
  • Negotiation Skills : Skilled in negotiating prices with suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Software Proficiency : Experience with estimating software (e.g., CostX, Bluebeam, Procore) and MS Office Suite, particularly Excel.
  • Time Management : Ability to meet deadlines and handle multiple estimates simultaneously.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or a related field (preferred but not always required).
  • 3+ years of experience in estimating, preferably in the construction or engineering sectors.
  • Familiarity with local building codes and regulations.
  • Certification in estimating or project management is a plus.
Work Schedule (Dayshift)
  • Monday to Friday (7AM-4PM; Manila Time)
Work Setup (WFH)
  • Permanent Homebased
  • Equipment will be provided by the company
