Position Title:
Software Quality Assurance Engineer (Malaysia)Work Arrangement: Hybrid (10x onsite in Kuala Lumpur office)
Schedule: Mondays - Fridays/ 40hrs per week
Role OverviewThe QA Engineer is responsible for ensuring the quality, stability, and performance of software applications through systematic testing processes. This role focuses solely on planning, executing, and improving test coverage across manual and automated frameworks. The QA Engineer will work closely with developers, product managers, and other stakeholders to ensure every release meets business requirements and is free from critical defects.
Key Responsibilities Testing & Quality Assurance - Design, document, and execute comprehensive test plans, test cases, and test scripts.
- Perform functional, regression, integration, performance, and user acceptance testing (UAT).
- Conduct exploratory testing to uncover edge cases and usability issues.
- Validate software against functional and technical specifications.
- Identify, document, and track defects using bug tracking tools; work with developers to resolve issues.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of testing practices and processes.
- Participate in requirements reviews to ensure testability from the outset.
- Review product specifications, requirements, and acceptance criteria to provide meaningful feedback.
- Identify, record, and document bugs, as well as review incoming bugs identified by users and other stakeholders.
- Provide quality and usability feedback to other members of the product and development team.
- Design, develop, and execute automation scripts (advantageous).
Collaboration & Reporting - Work closely with developers, development analysts, and project managers to align on quality objectives.
- Provide clear, data-driven reports on testing progress, defect metrics, and release readiness.
- Participate in Agile ceremonies (sprint planning, stand-ups, retrospectives) to align testing cycles with delivery timelines.
Qualifications & Skills Education - Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
Experience - 5+ years in software testing (manual and/or automated).
- Proven experience designing and executing structured test plans.
- Experience in an Application Support role is an advantage.
- Experience in API testing using Postman or scripting.
Technical Skills - Proficiency with QA tools (e.g., Selenium, JIRA, TestRail).
- Knowledge of test automation frameworks and scripting (Python or JavaScript preferred).
- Familiarity with SDLC and Agile methodologies.
- Basic SQL for data validation.
Soft Skills - High attention to detail and strong analytical thinking.
- Excellent communication skills for cross-functional collaboration.
- Strong time management and ability to work in fast-paced environments.
